Your instructor is tied to the package you buy. Here's how you pick one, and what your options are if you decide you'd rather learn with someone else.
Before you start
- Picking an instructor happens on the public lesson pages — see Browse lessons and packages and Find an instructor for picking one when you buy.
- Once you've bought a package, switching to a different instructor is done from that package's order, not from a separate instructor list.
Steps
- Open My Orders and select the order for the package you want to move to another instructor.
- Select Change instructor. This only appears while the package still has time remaining.
- In the Change instructor window, check the Current instructor, Remaining time and Current value shown at the top.
- Choose a New instructor from the list, or leave it blank to only see the cancel option.
- Compare the switch options shown — the exact ones offered depend on price differences between instructors and what your school allows. Select one to see what it means for your remaining time or wallet.
- If a wallet balance is available and applies to your choice, you can apply it towards any amount due.
- Select Confirm switch. If nothing is owed, the switch completes right away. If a payment is needed, you'll be asked to pay it before the switch takes effect.

What happens next
- Direct switch moves your remaining time to the new instructor with no price adjustment.
- Keep lesson minutes and pay the difference keeps your remaining time the same but charges you the new instructor's higher rate for it — you pay before the switch activates.
- Switch and receive wallet credit keeps your remaining time the same and credits the price difference to your wallet when the new instructor is cheaper.
- Keep value and convert minutes keeps what your remaining package is worth and converts it into more or fewer minutes at the new instructor's rate — so your remaining time can go up or down.
- Cancel package for wallet credit cancels the remaining package entirely and moves its full remaining value into your wallet as credit, instead of moving it to another instructor.
- A switch that needs payment shows as pending on your order until you pay — you can pay it then, or cancel the pending switch instead. If you leave it unpaid, it's cancelled automatically once its payment deadline passes.
- Your school decides which of these options you can use; you'll only ever see the ones that are switched on.
Common problems
- No "Change instructor" button — either the package has no time left, the order isn't active yet, or your school doesn't allow you to switch instructors yourself. Contact the school.
- Already have a switch waiting on payment? — the Change instructor button is replaced by a "Pending instructor switch" banner showing who you're switching to and the amount due. Select Pay now to complete it, or Cancel switch to drop it and start over.
